How To Make Your Apple AirPods Sound Louder

Last Updated April 18, 2021

For some, nodding to music while working is the key to productivity. Especially in open offices. Now imagine your AirPods not making sufficient sounds to drown the background music. The horror, right? Don’t worry though. We’re here to break down the ways you can make your AirPods sound louder.

It’s so easy to tune out the hustle and bustle around you while using earbuds. So it’s incredibly annoying when AirPods fail to help you avoid your nosy neighbors. What’s the point of wearing earbuds if you don’t get to control your aural environment?

AirPods are lucrative. It’s somewhat liberating to use it. There are no pesky wires involved to interrupt your workout. Or suddenly whack your phone out of your hands. It requires little hassle. They’re also without buttons. This brings us to a problem. How do we control the volume? Especially when you need to increase it.

Let’s take a look.

how to make your apple airpods louder

Instances During which AirPods Need to be Loud

AirPods have sublime audio quality but that doesn’t mean they’re infallible. Here are some instances in which the default settings aren’t up to par. In these cases, the need to make your AirPods louder prevails more than others. Here are the three big Cs during which you want to amp up your music.

  • Construction

The pounding and hammering sound of construction is enough to make anyone go crazy. Imagine having to face these sounds continuously throughout the day. Amping up your AirPods volume is a must-have in this instance.

  • Children

Whether you’re a parent or a sibling to a rambunctious child, having AirPods is always handy. Especially on days in which they’re particularly hyper. You deserve a break. Make your AirPods louder and get away for a few minutes.

  • Concentration

Sometimes, you just don’t want to listen to people. Maybe music helps you stay productive. Your work deserves your sole concentration. Your Apple AirPods having technical issues isn’t an option.

So if you’re getting low volume in any of these situations, you need to get it sorted as soon as possible. You don’t know how? Fret not! We’ve listed the easiest ways through which you can make your AirPods louder. Let’s take a closer look at your options.

How to Make Your Apple AirPods Louder

You can adjust the volume of your AirPods in a multitude of ways. AirPods don’t have any volume controls themselves. So it’s a little tricky to fix this issue. Here’s how.

  • Use the Reliable Volume Control

If your phone is within your reach, grab it. The volume controls should do the trick. Either use the buttons on the side or the slider in the control panel. This should directly make your AirPods louder.

  • Ask Siri

Don’t have your phone around you? Too lazy to get it yourself? That’s fine too. Just ask Siri to get it sorted.

For first-generation AirPods users:

Double-tap one of the earbuds to activate Siri. All you have to do is ask Siri to increase the volume.

For the second (or later) generation AirPods users:

Just say “Hey Siri!” Mind you, this function needs to be activated on your iPhone first. Once you activate Siri, just ask it to increase the volume.

For AirPod Pro users:

AirPod Pro is a nifty little device. You can use two earbuds for different things. Set one of them to activate Siri and ask Siri to get the job done anytime!

Points to Take Note of:

When Siri increases volume, it does it by 12% accretions. You can request a specific percentage instead. For example, “Hey Siri! Raise the volume by 30%.” Or you can set the volume at a certain percent. For this, say, “Hey Siri! Adjust the volume to 70%!”

  • Clean Your Earbuds

Okay, we know people don’t like talking about it but ears get dirty too. So if you feel like something is interfering with your AirPods, it could be earwax. It doesn’t significantly affect the sound but there are subtle differences. You should clean your AirPods for added measure.

Don’t use a damp cloth. That will damage the mesh speakers. You don’t want water to seep into the device. Also, don’t poke or prod it with toothpicks or safety pins! That will just make things worse. We suggest using something that has soft bristles. Could be a tiny brush or a cotton swab.

  • Take a Look at the Music App

Okay, hear us out. Your Music App could require some fixing. These mishaps often happen unintentionally but you can fix them in a jiffy. Go to Settings and click on Music. See the EQ option? Make sure it’s turned off. Then take a look at the volume limit. Set that off too. Just slide the volume at the absolute right.

Another issue users often face is mismatched volume. Are the sounds significantly louder on one side? The noise suppressor could be on. Go to Settings and click on Accessibility to get this sorted. Press on Audio and make sure the slider is in the center. You should hear the same volume on both earbuds now.

  • Reset Your AirPods

If all the options fail, then you might need to reset your AirPods to the factory settings. It could be a software issue that you can’t detect. This process doesn’t take a lot of time though. The only catch is all your paired devices will be unpaired. That’s sorted quickly too.

Put your AirPods in the charging case but keep it open. Hold onto the button you’ll find at the back. The LED on your case should blink white thrice. Once it does, quickly turn the lid off. This means the factory reset process is complete. Now all you have to do is pair your devices to your AirPods.

Final Words

So these are the five ways on how you can make your AirPods louder. AirPods will stick through your good times and bad. The audio quality is phenomenal so it’s worth the effort. Hopefully, these tips will help you get the desired sound volume!

The Apple AirPods revolutionized the headset industry with their compact design with quality workflow. If you are planning to be a part of this revolution and considering a pair of AirPods, you are thinking over the differences between AirPods 1 and 2.

If you are confused over choosing one or the other, then follow this article. Here we’ll break down every detail you need to find the differences between AirPods 1 and 2.

AirPods 1

The AirPods 1 came out on the 13th of December in 2016. A pioneer of its generation, this small yet powerful tool shook the headset industry with features like clear Bluetooth phone calls, 24 hours of battery life, and many. With its timeless compact design, AirPods 1 were a major hit on the market.

Features of AirPods 1

When it comes to features, Apple knows how to connect with the consumers, and for AirPod 1, they went all out. The parts of the AirPod 1 consists of the following:

  • Simple, compact design suited for mobility
  • Wireless connection for a wire-free experience
  • W1 chip for the processor for fast process and delivery
  • Multiple connectivities for both Apple devices and iOS
  • Battery notification and 24-hour long-lasting battery
  • Fast charging and longevity for battery life (15 min charge give 3-hour music listening)
  • Five-hour battery life
  • Double-tap control for Siri and tap control for calls and audio interface
  • Crisp and warm vocal output from the microphone

With these features, AirPods 1 took place as one of the best headset choices in the market and the mobility and the premium quality that comes with Apple products makes it more desirable.

AirPods 2

After the massive success of AirPods 1, the expectation for the AirPods 2 was high, and we can’t say Apple didn’t perform higher or lower. Launched on 20th March in 2019, almost after two years, Apple made some practical improvements without changing the core features from the AirPods 2. This gave rise to questions like whether or not AirPods 2 are worth the buy?

Similarities between AirPods 1 & 2

Apart from a few convenient changes, the AirPods 2 was the same as the AirPods 1. Some fans even went on to label it as AirPods 1.5 due to their disappointment.

Design

For starters, the design remained the same. From the dimensions of the product to colour, nothing was changed. And if you just looked from the outside, you wouldn’t notice the difference between the two AirPods. Many users wished to see at least a colour variation but were disappointed as the company only launched the product in white.

Sound Quality

The sound quality doesn’t face any changes from the time of AirPods 1, and that for some critics, that was a deal-breaker as, for them, it destroyed the whole purpose of shifting to AirPods 2. But it doesn’t mean the sound quality is bad or average. It still provides the rich sound that makes you glad to be an owner of an AirPod.

Battery Life

Apart from an increased talk time, the battery life is the same also. AirPod 2 consists of 24 hours of battery life with 5 hours of constant battery life when playing music.

Upgrades in AirPods 2

AirPods 2 had some quality in life upgrades along with an entire haul overcharging system.

Processor

AirPods 2 had a significant change with their processor as they moved from W1 processors to H1 processors for faster connectivity speed and less latency while switching or having in-game sounds. It also improved the talk time by a mile gave the essential support to get voice activation on Siri.

Increased Talk-time Battery

The talk time for the battery received a buff of 1 hour from its predecessor. The users will also get more stable connectivity and will face latency during phone calls.

Wireless Charging

AirPods 2 introduced wireless charging for your AirPods so that you can be more efficient and don’t have to face wires at all. It also supports wired fast charging, but if you have a wireless charging option, would you go for wired options anymore?

Siri Voice Activation

A significant upgrade from double-tapping Siri from AirPods 1 is the voice activation. You need to say ‘Hey Siri’ to gain access to Siri, and it saves a lot of time and quite efficient for the users.

Difference Between AirPods 1 & 2

Considering all the upgrades from AirPod 1 to AirPod 2, we can say that there is five major difference between the AirPods 1 & 2. These are:

  • Processing Chips
  • Wireless Charging
  • Battery
  • Connectivity
  • Voice Activation

There are also a few technical differences with the software versions. So, to sum it all up, we have put all the differences from AirPods1 & AirPods 2 in the following table:

Features

AirPods 1

AirPods 2

Chipset W1 H1
Talk-time 2 Hours 3 Hours
Charging Wired Wireless
Siri Activation Double Tap Activation Voice Activation
iOS Version 10 or higher 12.2 or higher
Bluetooth Version  4.2 5.0

What to Choose

Differences aside, both the AirPods 1 and the AirPods 2 have similar features. Unless you want the few unique features that the AirPods 2 offers, you shouldn’t go for the AirPods 2.

But at the same time, if AirPods 1 isn’t significantly lower, you should go for AirPods 2 as the price is almost always the same for the wire only charging version of AirPods 2.

If you already own an AirPods 1 but want to experience the wireless charging, you don’t need to buy AirPods 2; instead, you can buy the wireless charger only, and it will support your AirPods 2 without any problems

Conclusion

Although the differences between the AirPods 1 and 2 may be small.  These simple difference can hugely influence someone’s choices. So, it up to you to choose based on theses information and pick the best AirPods for yourself!

How You Can Reset AirPods

Last Updated April 9, 2021

AirPods are Bluetooth earbuds created by Apple Inc. They were released on December 13, 2016. Now there are two kinds of AirPods as in 2019, Apple released AirPods Pro.  AirPods are Apple’s entry-level wireless earbuds. They are sold alongside AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Apple’s most popular accessory is the AirPods.

How You Can Reset Airpods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max

If you are having technical problems with your AirPods, then the first thing you need to try is resetting your AirPods. Resetting the AirPods is the one solution that can solve many problems.

Most Apple customers do not complain about their AirPods not working as these products are very high-end with technical solutions. Resetting your Airpod is not much complicated. Following few simple steps can be a great and easy solution.

Step 1

First of all, you need to check your battery. Generally, people try to reset their AirPods by holding the button on the back. If you do this and don’t see a LED light flashing on the inside of the case, it’s probably because they are dead.

You need to grab the chargers of the AirPods and plug them in. Now you need to make sure that the AirPods are adequately charged for at least 15 minutes. When they have enough charge they will be able to repair.

Step 2

The key to resetting the AirPods is that small button that appears on the back of the Airpod charging case. Now you need to hold the small button down for 15 seconds.

After holding the LED light on the case, it will change from white to amber. But if you hold it down for too long, it will not be a problem. So, there is no reason to be worried about messing this up. It will be better when your iPhone or Apple devices are away when you are trying to reset the AirPods because if it is too close, it will just pull all the same data as before.

Step 3

After your AirPods are reset it is now time to sync them with a new iOS device. Syncing two Apple devices are very simple. Suppose you are using an iPhone. AirPods and the iPhone should be close together so that you can connect.

As long as you are using Apple devices, you should be able to connect. But if you are an Android user, then you need to simply go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth. This way, you can connect your AirPods to an Android phone.

(Optional) Step 4

There is a name option on your AirPod. It usually appears whenever you connect it to other iOS devices. Sometimes AirPods stubbornly held onto their old name. You can always change it after resetting the AirPods.

You need to go into the settings on your iOS device. After going to settings, you’ll find a Bluetooth option. You need to tap that option which will take you to a page where all of your device’s names will be available.

In the list, you will see (Your old name)’s AirPod. Besides the name, there is a symbol of info that appears like “i”. You need to click on the button and then you will see the option to rename.

How I Can Reset the AirPods Max

If you have an AirPod Max, then there will be a slightly different process, but still, it is really easy. AirPod Max is Apple’s first over-ear headphones. There are few simple steps to go through to reset the AirPod Max.

Step 1

First of all, you need to charge the AirPods Max case for a minimum of 10 minutes. When there is adequate charge, then you can plug off with the charger.

Step 2

After the case is charged, you will see that there is a noise control button. There is also a Digital Crown button. Just press and hold those two buttons until the LED flashes amber.

Step 3

If you need to reset your AirPods Max to factory setting, you can follow this way. You can also unpair them with your iCloud account. You should always wait for the LED to flash amber to white.

How to Solve AirPods Problems after Resetting

Usually, AirPods don’t have any problems after resetting them. But sometimes it does. So, before replacing your AirPods, you should try following steps on your own.

Step 1

Clean the AirPods, and then put them back on the charging case.

Step 2

If it still is not working, then you need to forget AirPods on paired Apple Devices. You can also reset the AirPods. Open settings on iOS or iPadOS, and tap Bluetooth. Tap on “Forget This Device”. And then you need to reconnect the AirPods again.

Step 3

Drain the battery, and charge it again. Still, if you are having problems, you need to get in touch with Apple support.
